How Your Breast Shape Determines the Best Bra For You
1st Nov 2017
Remember when you were younger and thought that there were two types of boobs - big and small? If only things were still that simple! There are numerous ways to categorise them, including breast shape, size, and density, each with different things to consider.
In fact, the incredibly helpful Bratabase identifies nineteen different breast shapes most commonly seen! On top of the varying support required for different sized breasts, each breast shape, too, requires differing support.
For the purposes of Q-Linn's bra styles, there are three major categories that all breast shapes can be grouped into. To look at each of these three breast shapes, it's quite obvious that each of them would need a different kind of support. This is what Q-Linn had in mind when designing our different bra styles - offering support to as many women, with as many different bodies, as we could.
Breast shape #1: Round

This shape is what many people imagine when they think about breast augmentation. And, while it's true that many women with implants have round breasts, many women have natural, round breasts, too. Round breasts are equally full on the top and the bottom, and are generally quite spherical in shape.
Does this sound like your boobs? Then you'll love the Q-Linn Athens bra, a bra with moulded cups, extra wide straps and underband to evenly distribute pressure across your back.
Breast shape #2: Oval

Women with oval breasts usually have more breast tissue on the outside of their chest than in the middle. Breasts feel less full on the top, with a gentle slope downwards. Breasts may be set further apart, and may have more of a teardrop shape with more fullness on the bottom.
If this describes your breasts, the Q-Linn Amsterdam bra would be perfect for you - the wide straps with racerback clip pull breasts up and in, without dragging down on your shoulders.
Breast shape #3: Pendulous

There are many types of pendulous breasts, and many women have them. Whether due to their size, past breastfeeding, or time and gravity working their magic, the breasts have a longer shape with much of their weight in the bottom. Teardrop or bell shaped breasts would fit into this category, as would any very large breasts.
If you have pendulous breasts, you'll love the Q-Linn Barcelona bra. It provides support and a little bit of lift, while covering the top of your breasts to hold you in place. The Barcelona provides support through your back, instead of small straps that pull down on your shoulders, eliminating headaches and neck/shoulder pain.
Of course, as we progress through different stages in life our breasts can change shape - women who have breastfed may find their once round breasts would now better suit a bra for pendulous breasts; women who lose a lot of weight may find their once pendulous breasts now feel quite empty. It's important to get fitted as time passes to make sure you are giving your breasts the support they need.
